Abstract
This article seeks to analyze the evolution of the army and militiasduring the reign of Philip V in Spanish America since the changes in the military institution. The objective is to find out the type of mobilization and recruitment in Spanish Indies from the stage immediately before to 1700. Trying to compare the reformsintroduced on both sides of the Atlantic, it is aimed at researching the type of state control of the military institution and its effects on the progressive militarization of Spanish America
