Abstract
The information gathered by the first exploration of La Plata River (1527-1529) was capital for its transformation into an attractive conquest object, as it was presumed rich in precious metals. After almost a century, when that experience became a historiographical matter, the cronista mayor Antonio de Herrera y Tordesillas based his version of those facts on an obscure archive document produced on that seminal instance
