Abstract
This work deals with the relations and coexistence between Cubans and Spaniards in the early 20th century after the War of 1898, the Spanish withdrawal, and last but not least the intervention of the United States and the establishment of the Republic in 1902. All these matters have been considered through the items of news appeared in two newspapers which have the same name, Diario de la Marina, but were edited in Havana and Madrid. Comparison includes the major socioeconomic and political events and their reflection on the papers.
