Abstract

There exists a limited amount of available sources regarding the Town Council of Guanajuato during the 17th and 18th centuries. The near extinction of registers, by-laws, and the correspondence of the town council make the investigation into its history very difficult. This study presents possible resources in Spanish, Mexican, and American archives to further the investigation of the colonial town council of Guanajuato.
