The revolution in Buenos Aires and the origin of Argentine federalism

Abstract

The political structure of the Argentine Republic has characteristic elements that were adopted during the independence movement in the beginning of the 19th century. The federalist political organization acquired an identity in the region of the Río de la Plata from these political changes, while the federalist perspectives in the region were determined by the ties between the former viceregal capital and the rest of the territories.
