Abstract
The processes of independence in Latin America are being reconsider from various angles historiographic to promote new interpretations to explain the reality of the revolutionary experience with greater comprehensiveness. In this trend, this research has as main objective warn the path of the providencialista ideology in Peru through the systematic analysis of the press and the sermons that circulated during all the juncture of the wars of independence and the religious phenomenon. The intimate relationship between the religious and political power, as guarantors of the legitimacy of the authority and the social order in the traffic of the former regime to modernity can be seen from this analysis.
