Creation and reforms the an unstable office: The regente of the Court Auditors of Mexico (1708-1781)

Abstract

The office of regente of the Court Auditors of Mexico neither was contemplated in the Recopilación de las Leyes de Indias, nor in the titles of the designated ones made reference some to the reasons for its creation. With this work we tried to analyze why of its establishment in 1708, the disadvantages of he himself and the swings that its continuity had until its final abolition in 1781, supporting in the correspondence of that Court and the one of the newshispanic viceroys of that period with the Crown and the Council to us of Indians, as well as in the titles sent to these ministers.
