Pedro de León Portocarrero and his brief description of the kingdom of Chile

Abstract

In 1914, the existence of an unknown chronicle about the viceroyalty of Peru came to light. This document, kept in the shelves of the National Library of France, presents a brief description of the kingdom of Chile that, since it is quite unique, we reproduce and analyze now according to new contributions about its author and its interest in these parts.
