Seville and Yucatan: an incipient trade (1561-1590)

Abstract

This paper deals with the trade between Seville and the Yucatan in the early stage of colonization, when information was scarce or affected by the significant lack in the documentary sources of the Archives of the Indies. Therefore, the option has been to use the notary registers kept at the Provincial Archives of Seville that give information about commercial interchange maintained between Seville and the Maya Peninsula.
