The conquerors’ host in the Notarial Archive of Seville: the expeditions to the Rio de la Plata from 1534 to 1552

Abstract

The AGI is the archive which contains the main number of documents on the expeditions of the spanish conquerors but also the Notarial Archive of Seville presents much information on the topic. In this paper are collected some notarial documents relating the organization of the first expeditions of conquest to Rio de la Plata: the providing with capital, the fitting out of the fleet, the enlistment of the seamen, soldiers and settlers.
