Abstract
In this article the author offers a unique perspective of the requisitions of private American remittances made by the Casa de la Contratación in Seville during the reign of Charles V. Through the notarial protocols, it details the content and the types of scripture recorded by Sevillan notaries between 1523 and 1550 that have a relation to the forced loans demanded by the Emperor.
