Abstract
Guayrá region was a territory of experimentation for the first Jesuits who came to Paraguay from Brazil, but also continuity of the apostolic work begun in its territory. We present the work of Portuguese Jesuit Manuel Ortega as the first missionary who was able to form a Christian grouping among ybyrajáras Guayrá and historiography, especially Spanish speakers, has consistently denied here.
