Abstract
At the beginning of 1939 the international brigadistas that came to Spain to defend their Republic were interned in the Field of Gurs, among them the Paraguayan Emiliano Paiva Palacios that would become one of the leaders of the French resistance. The article aims to reconstruct the historical memory of Paiva's participation. The interviews with his descendants allow us to analyze his detention in France, and his alleged transfer to the Dachau concentration camp, southern Germany, in 1944.
