Abstract

The aim of this paper is an analysis of the role of corporal punishment, in Guarani reductions, to account the particular implications of corporal torment on women, in the pos-jesuit context. In this line, the work shows how women were immersed in power disputes between authorities, who disputed the control of their bodies and the power to discipline and impose punishments.
