Considerations on the problem of the inquisitorial judicial sources for the study of the Inquisition in America. The Lima Court case

Abstract

In this work, we propose to review the archival policies introduced by the Spanish Inquisition and the central role given to the document organization and conservation aiming to optimize the operation of the Inquisition. We address the study of policies concretely implemented for the American courts -with special focus on the Lima court-, and the challenges the institution had to face due to distances.
