ABSTRACT: At the beginning of the 15th century, Castile and the Regent, Infante don Fernando, began to conceive the idea of a war against Granada. This became one of their main objectives –ideological, political and military– and a source of future prestige. Consequently, they were prepared to do everything in their power to achieve their end. From a military point of view, one of their main resources was the use of artillery, which was to prove very effective for the capture of Antequera. Seville had an important role to play in the preparation of the campaign against Antequera, because, among other reasons, it was here in the city that the artillery and ammunition were manufactured.
