ABSTRACT: This paper proposes to provide an overview of the legislation relating to commerce present in one of the most ambitious undertakings of the middle Ages: the legislation of Alfonso X, the Wise. Beginning with the legal definitions and continuing to the specific regulations relating to the exchange of certain products, our purpose is to reconstruct the legal boundaries within which merchants were obliged to work.
