Abstract

The Nueva Narrativa Andaluza [New Andalusian Narration], among whose authors are included the so-called narraluces, was a literary and commercial trend that took place in Spain between the late 60’s and the early 80’s of the 20th-century. The lack of a profuse scholarly analysis, the debate around the real nature of this trend, between literature and the market, as well as the author’s canonicity and literary quality are the starting point and grounds for a monographic issue in which is analyzed the oeuvre produced by Luis Berenguer, José Manuel Caballero Bonald, Mercedes Formica, Ramón Pérez Montero, Fernando Quiñones, and José María Requena. The conclusions are that former arguments about the realness of the narraluces as a literary group are weak, that narraluces’ group was mostly a market technique, although this does not justify doubting about the overall quality of their production, that should be studied by other scholars in the future.
