Space as a narrative component: three Andalusian novels

Abstract

In  the long debate about the existence of a new Andalusian narrative which has been taking place over the last fifty years, two points are widely accepted: all the authors share a common origin and they usually locate their plots –not always from common perspectives– in a nearby geographical setting. For this reason, three novels by different authors and belonging to different periods: El mundo de Juan Lobón, by Luis Berenguer; Ágata ojo de gato, by José Manuel Caballero Bonald and Eras la noche, by Ramón Pérez Montero have been chosen in order to verify if there are recurrent and common themes in the treatment of space as a narrative component.
