Abstract

Literary education in communities with several environmental languages is conditioned by the social values attributed to the different codes. This, in turn, affects literature. Therefore, diglossia plays an important role in attitudes towards literary production, as analysed for the Galician context by Antón Figueroa (1988) in Diglosia y texto and other works by the same author (1996, 2001). Our proposal tries to explore how working with popular music can contribute to a literary education that overcomes prejudices in relation to the different literatures. This inter-artistic and multicultural approach aims to promote the appreciation of the whole of the linguistic heritage, cultural and artistic, also allowing the principles of Integrated Language Treatment to be exported to the field of literary education.
