The presence of prints with novelistic content has been notable in a wide variety of ephemeral documents produced during the Modern Age, in Spain in general and in Andalusia in particular. In this contribution, we focus on the analysis of the image of novel content, specifically in cordel literature during the Golden Age in Andalusia. This study is intended as an approach to the image, analysing and finding links from a formal point of view that help us to better understand the composition of the first page of the pliegos and how the different divisions of the text box were established according to the number of blocks needed to illustrate the pliego.
