Starting from a baroque allegory, in which time is represented as defeated by hope, fame and love, the artist Jaime Aledo (born in Cartagena, Murcia, in 1949) undertakes a long ironic-pictorical reflection on the possibilities of the work of art to perpetuate the glory and memory of the artist beyond the death. This reflection is employed as a pretext to introduce a philosophical meditation on the French philosopher Jean-Luc Nancy’s idea of recovering the Christian doctrine of anastasis, as an idea of survival, in the context of his “reconstruction of Christianity” project.
