Abstract

The system of “Intendencias” designed by José de Gálvez for the “Indias” had in the Provincias Internas of Nueva España an exceptionally long existence. This study analyses the “intendencias” of Sonora and Nueva Vizcaya (with the exception of San Luis Potosi), between 1770 and 1821.
