Conflicts over the land and social mobilization: indian villages against the Augustines in the south of Guanajuato during the 18th century

Abstract

In 1728-1733 several protest movements in defence of the land took place in Guanajuato, of the viceroyalty of Nueva España, between the natives and the Augustinian friars from the Yuriria convent. This analysis goes through the causes that moved these demonstrations of disconfort.
