The formation of a historic ruin or how the Jesuit occupation of San Ignacio came to be archaeological (Cordoba, Argentina)

Abstract

At the beginning of the XVIIIth Century the Jesuits built a series of Estancias at Cordoba, now Argentina. One of them was San Ignacio devoted to Sacred Exercises. During the XXth. Century a fast sequence of events destroy the buildings, and the historians decided it disappearance before it was really demolished. Pictures show a different story. This paper studies the idea of the construction of the concept of “ruins” in history.
