Abstract

This paper analyzes the problem of the defense of the male reputations and the current definitions of masculinity in Buenos Aires in the late colonial period, starting from the conflicts that arose from words, gestures, or attitudes considered insulting and offensive because they tended to dishonour, denigrate, degrade or humiliate the receivers.
