Abstract

The objective of this paper is to know and analyze the magnitude of electoral violence in Mexico through the assassinations of political actors. This under the perspective that death has a direct link with politics and forms of electoral competition. For this, the statistics of murders of political actors between 2005 and 2017 are studied. At the same time, the analysis of the deaths occurred in the federal electoral process of 2018 is deepened. The analysis methodology is qualitative, since the review is used documentary and media to characterize the murders by name, gender, residence and political party. With this, it is expected to systematize the magnitude of the homicides of political actors and establish the relationship between death and politics in Mexico as a mechanism of competition and a historical constant in the electoral sphere.
