On April 6, 1934, during the Second Republic, Colonel Capaz officially occupied Ifni. Both national and regional press outlets reported the event, and Catalan media were no exception. Given the historical ties between Catalonia and the Spanish colonies, this article aims to analyze various press publications to understand their reactions to the occupation of Ifni, the objectives behind their stance, and the need to inform their readers about the region's characteristics and the resident population. Additionally, a comparison will be made with the satirical magazines of the time, which had wide circulation during the period under study.
