RiHC. International Journal of the History of Communication is an open-access publication, offering its content under the principle that making research freely available to the public supports greater global knowledge exchange.

RIHC. International Journal of the History of Communication adheres to various initiatives that promote open access to knowledge, meaning that all content is freely available and published under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International license.

As such, authors who publish in this journal accept the following conditions:

  • Authors retain copyright and grant the journal the right to first publication, with the work registered under the Creative Commons Attribution license, which allows third parties to use the published work provided they acknowledge the authorship and the first publication in this journal.

  • Authors may make other independent and additional contractual agreements for the non-exclusive distribution of the published version of the article in this journal (e.g., by including it in an institutional repository or publishing it in a book) as long as they clearly indicate that the work was first published in this journal.

  • Authors are encouraged and allowed to publish their work on the internet (e.g., on institutional or personal webpages) as this can lead to productive exchanges and faster, wider dissemination of the published work (see The Effect of Open Access).
