The 25 de Abril Magazine: The Carnation Revolution told to portuguese emigrants (1974–1976)

At the time of the Carnation Revolution, there were more than one and a half million Portuguese nationals residing abroad. Following the fall of the dictatorship, the new governments initiated the publication of the magazine 25 de Abril, which was designed to disseminate information to immigrants about the political, social and economic situation in the country. This article examines the inaugural phase of this magazine, spanning the period between 1974 and 1976, through an analysis of its contents. It aims to contribute to the existing body of research on the role of the media during the Portuguese revolution.
