Abstract

ABSTRACT: This article aims to present a socioeconomic analysis of the rural elites from the Sevillian countryside between the 15th and 16th centuries. The fiscal documentation from the town of Lebrija will enable us to outline the economic potential and patrimonial composition of this select group. Furthermore, we will identify a series of traits (such as political participation and displays of wealth) that characterize them socially. Finally, the study of a specific case will serve as an example to understand the complex relations this group had with its environment.
