Abstract

ABSTRACT: Significant case studies on the exploitation of natural resources and the organization of productive activities in the interior spaces of the Crown of Aragon during 14th-16th centuries constitute a priority research challenge in recent years. For this reason, this article presents a state of the subject with some unpublished documents on the most important industrial facilities that existed in medieval times: flour mills. The analysis carried out focuses on the specific territory of the ancient kingdom of Aragon and addresses issues such as approaching the number of mills there were, their location, the typology they had, what the organization of work was like in their area, what municipal ordinances were applied, or the forms of management and production rates that they followed. The objective is to select which are the best documented examples to delve into them in perspective compared to other similar studies.
