ABSTRACT: Under the Spanish pseudonym Curioso Andaluz, it was published in Madrid, ca. May 1804, a Catálogo de manuscritos especiales de España, anteriores al año 1600, that contains more than 451 volumes, papers and documents of different sort to be sold at the Librería de Claros. The identity of their anonymous owner has been a mystery up until now. In this paper, I present the gaditanian marine Juan Antonio Enríquez Lozano (1733-1809) as the owner and the seller of these manuscripts and other collections of his property to the benefit of the Orphan Children in Cádiz.
