ABSTRACT: The 14th century was a very turbulent century for the crown of Castile, especially during the reign of Pedro I. The Church was not left out of these problems, especially at a time when the centralism of Avignon and the local prelates clashed with the king’s religious policy. In this context, we present a study about the french Pierre Raymond de la Barrière, bishop of León between 1360 and 1361, analyzing his figure and work, as well as the documentary sources that allow us to learn about the actions he carried out during his long ecclesiastical career.
