Abstract
The existence of universal essences has being a constant problem along occidental metafisic´s history. We do recognize their epistemological need, but we doubt about their metafisical truth. However, it is possible that the origin of the problem lies in the use of an access method absolutely inappropiate to their nature. In this paper we pretend to delve in the nature of universaly beings, in order to adequately understand their characteristics, their relation to particular beings, and, mainly, the formal category of their existence.
