India and its commitment to Southeast Asia. Lights and shadows of an unfinished process

Resumen

El presente artículo analiza la interacción de India con el Sureste Asiático y su relación con ASEAN desde el fin de la Guerra Fría hasta el presente.  A nivel político, se examinan, las bases y los objetivos indios en su acercamiento a ASEAN. En segundo lugar, se procede a analizar las relaciones comerciales entre la India y ASEAN, prestando especial atención a la firma del ASEAN–India Free Trade Area (AIFTA) firmado en 2009 y que entró en vigor en 2010. En tercer lugar, se procede a estudiar la creciente interacción en materia de seguridad y defensa no solo con ASEAN, sino también con países claves en la arquitectura de seguridad de la región como Indonesia, Singapur, Filipinas o Vietnam y las derivadas de esta cooperación en su competición estratégica con China.
