Abstract
The work presents, for the first time in Spanish translation, the controversy that Vico conducted between 1711 and 1712 with the Giornale de’ letterati d’Italia concerning the De antiquissima. The controversy comprises three articles from the Giornale and two Responses by Vico. The volume also includes a letter from Vico to the editor of the Giornale, Apostolo Zeno, as well as the ecclesiastical and civil opinions –published in a bilingual edition– regarding the convenience of publishing Vico’s writings. The work starts with an introductory study in which the documents are presented (§ 1), the context and development of the controversy are reconstructed (§ 2), the authorship of the Giornale articles, originally published anonymously, is investigated (§ 3), and, finally, the criteria followed in the translation are exposed (§ 4)
