Abstract
As an introduction to the two youthful writings of Gentile that we publish in translation here below, this article investigates the presence of Vico during Gentile’s university education at the Scuola Normale in Pisa. Contrary to the commonly held perception, it demonstrates that Vico had a significant impact on Gentile's philosophical formation, influencing how he assimilated and later developed the concepts of idealism. Furthermore, an Appendix is included that gathers references to Vico found in Gentile's youthful writings.
