Abstract
In this installment, we continue the translation of La filosofia di G.B. Vico, by Benedetto Croce. This time, we offer the third chapter of the monograph: La struttura interna della Scienza nuova. In this chapter, Croce argues that within the New Science, three orders of inquiry intertwine: philosophical, historical, and empirical. Each order gives rise, respectively, to a philosophy of the spirit, a history (or group of histories), and a social science. However, the lack of awareness of this triple distinction in Vico’s mind is said to be the cause of the obscurity of the work.
