Abstract

Faced with the dogmatism of rationalist thought, Grassi turns to the philosophy of Giambattista Vico to support the pre-eminence of rhetorical discourse. These two writings show the Italian philosopher's interest not only in the tradition of Renaissance humanism, but also in Vico's thought as the greatest exponent of this tradition.
