Abstract
This is the original Italian text written on the occasion of the Third Centenary of Vico's birth in 1968, a time when the nuovo corso of Vico studies was taking root. The article provides an overview of Vico’s thought, explaining his greatness and classicism, that is, his exemplarity. Piovani presents a new perspective on Vico, contrasting it with the Vico of the “Catholics,” the “positivists,” and the “neo-idealists.” This Vico aims to be purely Vican, free from precursory influences and adaptations to preconceived philosophies. This Vico proposes a new and original philosophy centered around history and philology.
