ABSTRACT: In general, when a researcher dedicates himself to the study of any ecclesiastical institution, namely monastic, in the medieval period, he not infrequently comes across, on the one hand, an enormous poverty of coeval documentary sources and, on the other, the existence of a variable number of property books, catalogues, inventories of assets, books and indexes of various kinds. These volumes have become fundamental, especially after politically and socially troubled periods that often led to the loss of original documentation. In fact, they make it possible to reconstruct, at least partially, the medieval archives of the institutions. This study focuses on three donations granted by queen Teresa (1112-1128) and king Afonso Henriques (1143-1185), and the three confirmations of these same donations made by king Afonso II (1211-1223). The originals of these royal documents have disappeared; however, it has been possible to find and “reconstitute” them on the basis of two modern tombos, belonging precisely to the monastery of São Salvador de Grijó.
