Abstract

This paper aims to examine solitude and the concept of time as fundamental keys to an analytical understanding of the human being. Beyond time, solitude is found at the constitutive root of Heidegger's and Levinas' analyses to clarify the ontological condition of existence. The Heideggerian and Levinasian characterization of loneliness presents two distinct conceptions linked to the question of time. The interest that both authors share in this same experience is essential for a true understanding of the meaning of being.
