Abstract

Many studies have found that adolescents tend to turn away from poetry, probably due to teacher´s deficiencies in transmitting it. Similarly, the proximity of this age group to music has been studied, as well as the social and affective reasons that lead them to it, and the benefits that music brings to them. From this data, this article reviews the relationship between poetry and music and presents a study conducted among students of fourth grade of Magisterium in which it is confirmed that they prefer musicized versions of the poems, since they feel more moved by these versions, which they find easier to understand, even with complex texts such as Lorca’s poems. Taking these results in account, this paper proposes to use these musicized versions to overcome the reluctance of young audiences towards poetry.
