Guidelines for reviewers

GUIDELINES FOR REFEREES

 

  1. When referees agree to review a paper, they should log in to the OJS webpage as Reviewers and follow the directions provided by the system.

 

  1. Reports should be sent within 30 days of the receipt of the paper. Please contact Revista de Estudios Norteamericanos as soon as possible if you are unable to meet the deadline or to review the paper, so that the editorial process is not delayed.

 

  1. Referees will receive the paper, together with the assessment form, via the OJS platform.  

 

  1. Referees are expected to abide by the code expounded in the document “Ethical Commitment for the Publication of Articles”

 

  1. The essays submitted may be annotated; these documents will also be forwarded to the authors.

 

  1. The assessment form should be completed on the platform, including a detailed written report, which is mandatory in the case of rejected articles or articles that should be modified for publication. Please be specific in the reasons for your assessment, avoid irony or sarcasm, and be constructive; remember that these reports will be forwarded to the authors, with the exception of communications addressed only to the Editors.

 

  1. If the two referees differ markedly in their assessment, a third expert will be called in. The paper will be published only if after due modifications a significant degree of agreement is reached.

 

  1. Please remember that your work is the guarantee of the editorial efficiency and high academic standards of Revista de Estudios Norteamericanos.
