Abstract

This work aims to describe and value the narrative production of one of the main Andalusian novelists of the seventies in Spain: Luis Berenguer. To achieve these objectives, the life and work of the writer are contextualized within the agitated literary panorama of his time. The opinions that were made in those years about the so-called new Andalusian narrative or generation of narraluces are reviewed and the six novels of the writer based in Cádiz are analyzed in a succinct way. The main conclusions we reached are, fundamentally, that we cannot speak of an Andalusian novel with particular features, nationalist or regionalist, that separate it from the rest of the Spanish narrative creation of those years and that Luis Berenguer is, without any doubt, an inescapable reference of Spanish literature of the last decades of the twentieth century, for the stylistic richness of his prose and his compositional depth.
