SUMMARY This autobiographical narrative on the learning of architecture invites us to reflect on the home over the course of almost a century, from the experiences of modernity, the post-conflict revision and the debate on the tradition, the typological criticism, up to the contemporary situation. A diachronic view allows us to review the difficult dialogue between a constructed object –the house– and a social subject –the man– who inhabits it. Thus the mass production of residential homes has yet to respond to the accelerating changes that are taking place in our society –the emergence of different family models, changes in the ways of working and in life habits– and in which an exacerbated experimentalism does not find accommodation in a large number of the receivers. This view also allows us to discern that times of security –modernity or neo-rationalism– are interspersed with post–war uncertainty, or the same current situation, and that has its reflection in the conception of housing. In short, there is a process of dissolution of maximalist proclamations and theoretical approaches in a practice –explored through three projects– where the home reaches its full relevance.
}, number={16}, journal={Proyecto, Progreso, Arquitectura}, author={Torres Cueco, Jorge}, year={2017}, month={may}, pages={34–47} }
