Abstract

This work describes the generalized refusal against the high radioactive waste disposal that has been projected by the Spanish Government. It is exposed inside a wide complex of decisive causes and circumstances. From those circumstances we take into account the anti-nuclear tradition in Spain, which was the origin of the Spanish ecologic movement. In this tradition a central relevance had always the strong condemnation of a technology that was not able to solve the terrible problem of radioactive waste. But in the current nuclear polemic an important weight has also the political- administrative way adopted to make the selection of the definitive municipality, the actors and institutions’ behavior, and the specific ideology (meanly institutional) that affects this problem.
