FROM TRADITION INTO FORGETFULLNESS}, volume={1}, url={https://revistascientificas.us.es/index.php/RAA/article/view/8587}, DOI={10.1279/RAA.2019.16.05}, abstractNote={<p class="Standard">Ante la nueva dimensión que adquiere la cultura en las sociedades contemporáneas, los museos, como la más sólida de las instituciones culturales, deben abandonar su rol pasivo y comprometerse con las comunidades en que se imbrican de una manera mucho más dinámica. De entre sus diversas tipologías el etnográfico es, por definición, el museo de la sociedad. En él debería ejemplificarse la apertura social que proclama esta institución hoy, involucrando a la población en su misión e invitándola a participar activamente en la consecución de sus objetivos.</p><p class="Standard">La azarosa evolución de estos museos en nuestro país ha propiciado una insólita proliferación de centros de estas características. En muchos de ellos las temáticas se reiteran, faltas de contenido, y su discurso ha quedado obsoleto, marginado a un pasado en ocasiones idealizado y desconectado del presente. Todo esto genera una imagen negativa del museo etnográfico: visto como un almacén de objetos, su mensaje es difícilmente comprendido por la sociedad actual, propiciando así un distanciamiento y rechazo social que pone en peligro la viabilidad futura de estos centros.</p><p class="Standard"><strong>Palabras clave.</strong></p><p class="Standard">Antropología, museo etnográfico, sociedad, museología.</p><p class="Standard"><strong>Abstract.</strong></p><p class="Standard">In view of the new dimension that culture acquires in contemporary societies, museums, as the most solid of cultural institutions, must abandon their passive role and engage with communities in which they are in a much more dynamic way. Among its various typologies, the ethnographic is, by definition, the museum of the society. It should exemplify the social opening that this institution proclaims today, involving the population in its mission and inviting to participate actively in achieving its objectives.</p><p class="Standard">The hazardous evolution of these museums in our country has led to an unusual proliferation of centers of these characteristics. In many of them, the themes are reiterative, lacking in content, and their discourse has become obsolete, set aside to a past on many occasions idealized and disconnected from the present. All this generates a negative image of the ethnographic museums: seen as a store, its message is hardly understood by today’s society, fostering the estrangement and social rejection that jeopardizes the future viability of these centers.</p><p class="Standard"><strong>Key words.</strong></p><p class="Standard">Anthropology, ethnografic museum, society, museology.</p>}, number={16}, journal={Revista Andaluza de Antropología}, author={Yáñez Loureiro, Raquel}, year={2019}, month={mar.}, pages={93–111} }
