Abstract

This article aims to trace in Islamic sources, the Koran and the "Sunna" of the Prophet, indications of the equal treatment that men and women receive. Frequently, it is made to see from not a few areas of the Western intelligentsia that the content of those sources referring to the equality between Muslim men and women differ from the egalitarian ideals of our societies. Hence, the analysis of the status of Muslim women is distorted, based on cultural practices imposed by models of patriarchal societies that, due to the theological roots of Islam, which defend an essential equality between men and women. In this article we will try to elucidate both issues to differentiate them and thus claim a different vision of Muslim women from their Islamic roots.

ER -
